KEMP ANNOUNCES PLAN TO SUPPORT VETERANS, PROTECT GEORGIA BASES
(Athens, GA) - Today, conservative businessman and Republican nominee for governor, Brian Kemp, stood with veterans from all five branches of the U.S Armed Forces to announce his plan to support veterans and protect Georgia's military bases from BRAC.
“I am a veteran, a teacher, a business owner, a wife, mother and mother-to-be, and I support Brian Kemp,” said Air Force veteran Melanie Caceres. “I have lived my life in complete service to my country and my community, and I believe Brian Kemp is the only choice for Georgia."
“Brian Kemp is a man who believes in, and lives by, old fashioned values. The kind of values I was raised on - integrity, honesty, and service to others,” said Army veteran Charles Wilson. “That's just what Georgia wants and needs. I know Brian Kemp will be a great governor for our veterans.”
“I believe Brian would lead with honor and integrity,” said former gubernatorial candidate and Navy SEAL Clay Tippins. “We don’t agree on everything, but Brian always shoots straight with me and I know that he would work to put Georgians – not himself – first.”
“I’ve gotten to know Brian up close and personal on the campaign trail and I’ll say this to my fellow Georgia Veterans: Brian Kemp is the real deal,” said Veterans for Kemp Chairman, Rep. David Clark (R – Buford). “This man truly cares about each and every one of the veterans who live in Georgia.”
"This is a realistic – and affordable - plan that strengthens our economy, spurs job creation, supports local communities, enhances access to healthcare, improves quality of life, and keeps hardworking Georgians safe," said Kemp. "This is a plan that puts hardworking Georgians first and ultimately shows those in uniform that we appreciate them, we love them, and we want them to be proud to call Georgia 'home.'"
Kemp’s Plan
1. Eliminate the state income tax on military retirement income.
2. Secure funding for Veterans Career Transition Resource Center (VECTR) satellite services at all 22 Technical College System of Georgia campuses.
3. Create a senior level position within the Governor’s Office to defend our nine military installations and strengthen the communities and local economies they support.
